1）HCI類碩士項(xiàng)目非常少，博士項(xiàng)目更是稀少
計(jì)算機(jī)系、信息學(xué)院等個(gè)別專業(yè)有博士項(xiàng)目，有教授帶學(xué)生做相關(guān)方向的科研。也就是說(shuō)，學(xué)位不叫PhD in HCI，而是作為博士生的畢業(yè)論文方向。只有極個(gè)別學(xué)校，比如CMU、Gatech，有專門的HCI博士，因?yàn)樘湎?，錄取難度是非常大的。
通常大家說(shuō)的到美國(guó)讀HCI專業(yè)，都是自費(fèi)讀碩士。那什么樣的學(xué)校有專門的HCI學(xué)位？
首先，排名很低的學(xué)校，沒(méi)有這個(gè)專業(yè)，因?yàn)镠CI需要多個(gè)領(lǐng)域的知識(shí)，設(shè)計(jì)、心理學(xué)、計(jì)算機(jī)等各個(gè)方向，都得有教授上課才可以，很多學(xué)校沒(méi)有這樣全面的師資力量，或者盡管有這些專業(yè)，但是教授們的科研興趣沒(méi)法交叉在一起。
其次，好學(xué)校里有HCI方向的，依然很少。Stanford和MIT Media Lab是大牛，其他的學(xué)校，主要就是CMU、GaTech、UW、U Mich、IUB、UMD等比較有名了。而且有些學(xué)校并沒(méi)有專門的HCI學(xué)位，比如Stanford、Cornell，只是作為CS or IS專業(yè)的一個(gè)方向（track）開(kāi)設(shè)而已，這樣的項(xiàng)目，申請(qǐng)難度自然要按照所在院系來(lái)，比如申請(qǐng)stanford CS系的碩士錄取，背景如果不是極其彪悍，那就是去給牛人做陪襯的。 另外，不同學(xué)校的課程設(shè)置側(cè)重點(diǎn)不同，差別很大。

總的來(lái)說(shuō)，HCI申請(qǐng)，無(wú)論背景強(qiáng)弱，大家都不得不申請(qǐng)數(shù)目很少的那批學(xué)校，就算想降低學(xué)校檔次申請(qǐng)，或者想去名氣更大的學(xué)校，也沒(méi)有別的選擇。
2）HCI方向美國(guó)求職特點(diǎn)和就業(yè)前景
HCI類方向的職位，有以下兩個(gè)特點(diǎn)
職位少，就業(yè)機(jī)會(huì)不多
公司比較喜歡有經(jīng)驗(yàn)的人，尤其是設(shè)計(jì)類的職位，新人入門難，這也意味著經(jīng)驗(yàn)越豐富就越吃香。
隨著apple的成功，越來(lái)越多的公司都覺(jué)得有必要招人進(jìn)來(lái)提高產(chǎn)品的user experience。其實(shí)User Interface Design這類工作，作為小眾方向，在軟件開(kāi)發(fā)過(guò)程中，一直都有人做的，并不新奇。公司新招人進(jìn)來(lái)，是否能人盡其才加以利用，是個(gè)問(wèn)題，在有些公司里，做UX Design的人，比較邊緣化。
最近幾年是美國(guó)就業(yè)高峰期，IT行業(yè)一般不裁員，但是如果將來(lái)經(jīng)濟(jì)形勢(shì)不好，做HCI的人可能會(huì)被首先裁掉。其實(shí)不光是做HCI的，在IT行業(yè)里，做front-end的職位，包括做開(kāi)發(fā)的軟件工程師，很多時(shí)候都會(huì)被“優(yōu)先”干掉 - 當(dāng)然，這里比較的是技術(shù)類工作，一般最先被裁掉的是非技術(shù)工種，比如marketing, sales。
如果有可能，找個(gè)很注重HCI的公司，或者所在部門的核心業(yè)務(wù)就是這方面的，工作會(huì)更穩(wěn)定一些。
3）HCI非?？粗刈髌芳疨ortfolio
首先，無(wú)論是申請(qǐng)，還是求職，都需要作出很出色的作品集來(lái)展示自己的才能。
其次，口語(yǔ)表達(dá)能力、交流能力也非常關(guān)鍵，這類工作，并非埋頭寫代碼，而是要跟別人討論交流甚至察言觀色來(lái)合作，如果悶葫蘆，或者談話交流有障礙，最好下大功夫提高一下。
至于學(xué)HCI是否要編程這個(gè)問(wèn)題??答案是yes。不需要CS那么強(qiáng)的編程功底，將來(lái)的工作也不是專職軟件開(kāi)發(fā)，但是如果徹底不會(huì)計(jì)算機(jī)編程，連網(wǎng)站都不會(huì)做，那作為新人，找工作的難度會(huì)陡然加大，其他方面的背景（比如藝術(shù)設(shè)計(jì)），那得相當(dāng)彪悍才有機(jī)會(huì)。
4）HCI資源信息
一畝三分地里里有很多學(xué)HCI的同學(xué)來(lái)分享申請(qǐng)經(jīng)驗(yàn)、介紹學(xué)校項(xiàng)目，也有同學(xué)在美國(guó)找到了工作，回地里分享求職經(jīng)驗(yàn)。一句話：從申請(qǐng)到就業(yè)，全都有。
在地里用免米搜索“HCI"或者"UX Design"這些關(guān)鍵字，可以查到各種申請(qǐng)信息。比如spell同學(xué)讀書期間，分享的UW HCDE,MSIM12fall申請(qǐng)錄取情況和UW-Seattle 2012,2013錄取情況及就業(yè)RA情況。
